Mr. David Johnson, Principal
I am excited to serve as the principal of West Wilkes High School. I have taught and served as a school administrator in various locations over my 18 year educational career. My journey has brought me to West Wilkes High School, and it’s easy to understand why the students, staff, and community love West. West Wilkes High School is a community school that believes in Hard Work and Dedication. Our students are lucky to have this opportunity to attend such a great school.
A little about myself, after high school I served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, about which I am still proud today. I have been happily married for 18 years to my wife Jennifer and we have two girls – Elizabeth and Caroline. I believe we all can achieve great things through Hard Work and by staying Focused on what’s important.
I look forward to another great year of helping students achieve their dreams and sharing their successes with the world. We attempt to keep the West Wilkes High School family near and far informed of the events involving students, staff, and alumni. Please like our Facebook page West Wilkes High School, or follow us on Twitter @WestWilkesHS.
Thank you all for your support of the students and staff of West Wilkes High School. Help us communicate to the students that if they work hard and make good decisions they will achieve great things.
“Work towards your Goals and your Dreams will come true!”

Mrs. Amanda Pruitt, Assistant Principal
I am very excited to work with the students, families and staff of West Wilkes High School. I have worked as a teacher and school administrator in three high schools during my 12 year tenure in education. West Wilkes High School is a great place to serve. Teachers, staff members and students are dedicated to success inside the school building and in the community.
A little about myself, I am happily married to my husband Timothy, of almost 16 years. We have two children—a son, Corban and our daughter, Caydence. We enjoy spending time together as a family and are excited to be a part of the West Wilkes family as well.
As we look forward to another school year, we are very excited to see the great things our Blackhawks will achieve. These accomplishments will require hard work and determination. Thank you for your efforts in encouraging our students to always put their heart into all they do!
