The purpose of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.
Specifically, West Wilkes HOSA participates in competitive events at the regional, state, and international levels. Competitive events include, but are not limited to HOSA bowl, extemporaneous health poster, and CPR and First Aid Skills. Aside from competitive events, West Wilkes HOSA is actively involved in our local community. Examples of community involvement include sponsoring the Foothills Free Medical Clinic, participating in the Alzheimer's Walk, and individual service projects.
Blackhawk HOSA members who plan to compete in competitive events at the regional and state level must obtain a required amount of points. These points can be earned by attending meetings, participating in HOSA sponsored events, and meeting with advisers for study sessions. Members must be ready to work diligently to prepare for competitive events, attend and assist at HOSA functions, and attend weekly meetings.
