Blackhawk Marching Band

Mission/Purpose:

The West Wilkes Blackhawk Band proudly represents West Wilkes High School and our community through various performance opportunities and venues.
 

Requirements to Join:

All members should have previous instrumental music experience, registration in the academic band class, and/or permission of the Director.
 
Sign up beginning of the 1st semester, or 2nd semester if new to the school. There are band fees and incidental expenses related to use school instruments, special trips and instrument supplies. Fundraising opportunities are available for overnight trips as scheduled. Approx. 90% of the Band budget is support by our Band Booster organization through efforts of our students, band families and community. See the Band Director for details.
 

Activities:

The West Wilkes Band Program performs in various international, national, and state venues such as dedication ceremonies, The Daytona 500, Marching band competitions, music festivals and parades.
 
Past performances have included dignitaries such as The President of the United States, Governor of North Carolina, and NC State representatives.
 
The Band has also attended music festivals in association with trips to Carowinds and Universal Studios, FL.
 
The West Wilkes Marching Band is an organization that is served by and led by student leaders under the supervision of the Director, Matthew Dauer.
 

Meeting Times/Locations:

Academic class every school day. After school rehearsals, performances and events as scheduled.
